Following Browngill Burn down across the moor from the Nenthead /
Garrigill road we soon came across an area that looked like a overgrown
culvert. At the top of the culvert where you would expect the adit to be there
was nothing but a stacked pile of stones. Looking at the wall above it was
clear that the stones once where part of said wall, but must have fallen into
the level, blocking it. However all was not lost. Mark found a hole just past
the slipped stones and looking into it we could see the level at the bottom. It
was only shallow, about 1.5m deep. At some point in the past, it looked like it
had been covered up as there was what looked like lino pieces in it as well as
a metal pipe. |
