Rampgill Firestone Level, Nenthead, Cumbria. OS Ref: NY787434.
The
Firestone Level is part of the Rampgill Mine workings and runs parallel above
the Rampgill Vein for almost its full course. It was driven in 1830 to give
better access to the workings and to improve ventilation.
On LLC
plans it looks like you should be able to get down into the Rampgill Vein from
this level, but that is dependant on whether shafts and passages are
blocked.
