Chimney and Flue
We had
often seen the chimney on top of the moor from the Nent Valley but never really
had bothered to take a closer look, until now. The exhaust fumes from the
smelting mill where channelled through a condenser to try to recover additional
lead, and then the secondary exhaust fumes where channelled again up a flue
built on the surface of the moor leading to the chimney which has now
collapsed. Workers from the mining complex would also clean the flue in order
to recover more lead.
